Well this is disappointing…..

HBO has axed 70s rock drama Vinyl after just one season.

The series, co-produced by Mick Jagger and Martin Scorsese, was actually renewed for a second season shortly after the show’s premiere, but as things progressed there were doubts about its performance.

In addition to mixed reviews and low ratings, the show also suffered the loss of Terence Winter, its show runner, in early April. HBO executives hoped that his replacement, Scott Z. Burns, would help give new life to the series for its second season. But in the end it decided to shut it down.

“Obviously, this was not an easy decision,” HBO said in a statement. “We have enormous respect for the creative team and cast for their hard work and passion on this project.”

Despite drama successes such as Game of Thrones HBO also not renewed True Detective after a disappointing second season, while Westworld will begin in coming months after several delays. Looking has also wrapped with two seasons. It concludes with a movie finale in July along with the premiere of limited series The Night Of starring John Turturro.
