New US drama Westworld launched with a ‘US simulcast’ yesterday on Showcase, screening on a public holiday in some states.
OzTAM rankings indicate it was the best non-sports performer on Pay TV yesterday, averaging 69,000 for the midday broadcast and 58,000 for a primetime replay -a total of 127,000 viewers.
That puts it ahead of recent Showcase launches by The Night Of (45,000) and Vinyl (35,000) but not yet a Game of Thrones juggernaut (a record 396,000 for its Easter Monday simulcast).
Promisingly, Westworld has attracted strong reviews, sitting at 88% with critics on Rotten Tomatoes.
